Living Room Dulwich

This living room project in Dulwich focused on introducing more colour and personality into the space. The scheme combines restored antique and vintage furniture with contemporary pieces to create a room that feels layered, characterful and lived-in, with a sense that it has evolved naturally over time.

At the heart of the design is a richer colour palette and a collection of carefully sourced furniture that adds warmth, texture and individuality to the room.

The Brief
The living room needed an injection of colour and personality. The aim was to move away from a lighter scheme and create a space with a stronger sense of character whilst incorporating furniture and decorative pieces that would bring warmth and interest to the room.

Vintage finds and restored furniture were an important part of the overall design approach.

The Design Challenge
The room needed a bolder colour scheme and furnishings that would add personality whilst working together cohesively.

A number of vintage pieces were sourced and restored, requiring a balance between older furniture and more contemporary additions so that the space felt collected over time rather than entirely new.

Our Approach
In order to create a more cocooning atmosphere, the walls were painted in a rich blue that immediately adds depth and character to the room.

An Edwardian oak overmantel mirror was sourced from a local auction house and restored to its original colour. The mirror introduces a strong period element and sits comfortably alongside a mid-century modern Stag chest of drawers.

A 1970s oak coffee table, complete with a practical storage shelf, was sourced from a vintage market and restored before being incorporated into the scheme.

These vintage finds were combined with modern pieces throughout the room, creating a layered interior that blends different periods and styles.

The Result
The completed living room feels full of personality, with colour, texture and carefully sourced furniture creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The combination of restored antique pieces, mid-century furniture and contemporary elements gives the room a lived-in quality and a sense that the space has evolved naturally over time.
