House Renovation Herne Hill
Having lived abroad for several years, this family of five was returning to their previous family home but not only needed the house to work differently for them now with older children, but also wanting the house to feel different and ‘new’.
The house had previously been quite child-friendly with a neutral palette and nothing had been too precious. Now with more grown-up children there was a shift in focus to more investment pieces and a desire to use colour to create a warm, welcoming home that was stylish for entertaining, practical for home working and in need of more storage!
The smallest child’s bedroom presented a lovely opportunity to create a cosy den, which immediately detracted from the small size of the room. The cloakroom on the ground floor was transformed with a wonderful mural wallpaper of Paris, which was sourced by the client while still living there and was the perfect find for this cosy space.
The hall and central staircase was colour drenched in lovely soft pink to create an instantly welcoming feel as soon as you enter the house. Storing books and toys was a key part of the brief so bespoke shelving was squeezed into as many areas of the house as possible.
